VITTORIO URBANI is a prominent curator, based in Venice, Italy who has been organizing contemporary exhibitions since 1993 at the non-profit gallery Nuova Icona. He is the driving force behind Nuova Icona. He is also a medical doctor.
NUOVA ICONA is a non-commercial organization dedicated to the realization of contemporary visual art projects in Venice, Italy. Under the artistic direction of Vittorio Urbani, Nuova Icona has held 144 shows and published 74 catalogues since it was formed in 1993. Since 1995 Nuova Icona has organized the national official participation of Ireland in the Venice Biennale. It has also collaborated with the national participation of Turkey (2001 and 2003), and to the Pavilions of Scotland, Wales and the USA (2003).
